You finally booked your very first sugaring service, but now you aren’t quite sure what to expect next. Most people love the idea of going bare for the first time, but they wonder if they are doing everything necessary to get ready for the big reveal. Should they add a little bit of lotion to help protect their skin or should you take a shower just before you go? Knowing what to do and when to do it can help you to receive better results from your sugaring experience.
The good news is that there isn’t much you really have to do to prepare your skin for sugaring. However, a few helpful tips never hurt anyone. Here are a few of the most helpful hints to help you prepare your body for the first sugaring session.
Exfoliate Your Skin First
Exfoliating your skin helps to get rid of all the dead skin cells and hairs that happen to be on your body. This is an essential step to help us get the best bond between your hair follicles and the sugaring paste. Otherwise, the sugaring solution might cling to your dead skin cells instead of to the new hairs that need to be removed. You might miss out on your beautiful and bare skin because you didn’t exfoliate properly prior to your service.
Let the Hair Grow
Before your session, you need to ensure that your hair has plenty of time to grow. We always recommend waiting approximately two to three weeks from the last time you shaved or waxed your skin. Ultimately, you want the hair to be about ¼” long to receive the most benefit from your sugaring session. If the hair is shorter than this, the sugaring paste won’t have enough to grab onto in order to remove it. Reschedule your session if your hair is going to be too short to actually sugar this time around.
Clean Your Skin
Please don’t come to your sugaring session right after a sweaty session at the gym. It’s always best for you to have clean skin that is ready to accept the sugaring solution right away. Make sure to take a shower before you come, particularly because you will want to avoid hot water for a few hours after your sugaring session.
Leave the Lotions
Don’t put anything on your skin before you come to the shop. This means lotions, powders, body oils – anything you can think of! We prefer to work with your natural skin without any of those extra additives. This ensures that the sugar works the very best that it can for your skin.
When it comes to body sugaring, it’s important to know what to expect and how to properly prepare yourself for the session. Following these key tips will help give you more beautiful skin and a bare body that you can be proud of. If you haven’t set up your first appointment yet, give Bare Body Sugaring a call today!
